Statement from Mayor Caleb Ramsey

7/22/2026

To the Residents of the City of Hudson, Texas:
As Mayor of the City of Hudson, I am writing to inform the public of a significant development involving former City Administrator Rodney McCarty.
Mr. McCarty has been indicted by a grand jury for the offense of Abuse of Official Capacity, which is a State Jail Felony under Texas law.
The City’s administration took appropriate notice of allegations involving suspected improprieties during the period when Mr. McCarty served as City Administrator. Reports concerning these suspected improprieties were submitted to the Angelina County Sheriff’s Office, which in turn notified the Texas Rangers. Following an investigation by the Texas Rangers, the matter was referred to the Angelina County District Attorney’s Office for further action.
I want to be clear that the City of Hudson is committed to accountability, transparency, and the lawful administration of public trust.
Corruption will not be tolerated in the City of Hudson. Those entrusted by the citizens to use their hard earned tax dollars wisely must always be held to the highest standards. I demand it and so should every public servant whether they are elected or appointed.
At this time, the City will continue to cooperate with law enforcement and the judicial process. We recognize and respect the role of the courts in determining the facts, and we will not interfere with ongoing proceedings.
Thank you for your continued trust and for your commitment to the City of Hudson.
Sincerely,
Caleb Ramsey
Mayor, City of Hudson, Texas
